I had a look into Soundflower and it seems it hasn't been updated for a few years (since OS Lion) (Reposting from Mac forum as no replies there) I've googled it a lot but its mostly over my head. Thanks for any help or points to simply-written articles. It is not feedback-proof and I do not understand how it works so I am nervous to experiment further. Neither manual nor article show how the connections actually appear to work on my Mac.ie what they say doesn't happen in my JACK connnections window, what I got to work doesn't match what I (mis)understood of the Manual and the article, and I can't make the connections window respond as expected. There is a good manual and a well-written audio blog articleīut both focus on routing system audio such as i-tunes or YouTube, though DAW-to-DAW routing is discussed briefly. The set-up and connection process is not easy. I'm on MacOS10.9.5 but JACK covers all platforms.įrom the JACK home page: "Have you ever wanted to take the audio output of one piece of software and send it to another? How about taking the output of that same program and send it to two others, then record the result in the first program? Or maybe you're a programmer who writes real-time audio and music applications and who is looking for a cross-platform API that enables not only device sharing but also inter-application audio routing, and is incredibly easy to learn and use? If so, JACK may be what you've been looking for." I've only done it as audio so far but JACK apparently routes MIDI too. I haven't tried synching them yet, but I can play an HSE instrument live in Cubase while recording it live to a Reaper track/s. I can now record live from Cubase to Reaper or vice versa. I'm learning to use JACK routing Kit, (free), mostly to record VST3 instruments, played in Cubase and output routed into Reaper.
